Lesser known facts about DDLJ

12 December, 2014. This is the day, that the most memorable iconic love saga 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge' will complete 1000 weeks at the Box Office. While this epic tale of love still manages to bring out the romantic in you, we bring to you a few lesser known facts about the King of romance & the film that made him rule our hearts like ever before.

1. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge released on October 19, 1995, just a few weeks before the King Khan’s 30th birthday. Released 19 years ago, the film was a huge hit with the audiences, and has been running at the Maratha Mandir theatre in Mumbai for all this while.


2. The character of Raj was first offered to Saif Ali Khan. It was only after he rejected that the role went to Shah Rukh Khan, establishing the undisputed King of Romance. 

3. The songs of DDLJ went on to become a blockbuster hit. Then debutant director Aditya Chopra had rejected 24 versus of the song Mere Kwaaboon Mein Jo Aaye written by Anand Bakshi, before he finally gave his nod. The song was picturized on Kajol.

4. Raj agar ye ladki tujhse pyaar karti hai toh voh paltegi zaroor. Very few people know that among all the romantic scenes that SRK & Kajol have shot together, this one is by far their favourite. 

5. Aditya Chopra named SRK's character Raj as a tribute to the great flimmaker Raj Kapoor,  while the title Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge was suggested by Anupam Kher's wife Kirron Kher.

6. During the shoot of the song Ruk Jaa O Dil Deewane, Kajol wasn't informed that SRK would be dropping her in the end. The reaction in the movie was her original reaction.
